Apostle Patrick Utulu: A Profile

Where you were born and where you are now, are too weak to determine your destiny. What determines destiny really is who you are. God does not bring forth what He has no plan and provision for. This is why He created the earth and all the provision thereof before creating man.
“And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed.” (Gen. 2:8).
Divine plan and provision precede the birth and placement in life. “Pastor Patrick  passed through many harrowing dangers in life. They were big enough to take the life of anyone no matter the amount of protection. From birth, God showed very great interest and full commitment to his course, even when he had not known Him.
He was born on 20th August 1960 in Azagba Ogwashi-Uku, a small town, in Delta State, South West, Nigeria, to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Janet Utulu, peasant and uneducated farmers. Because he was the only boy amongst other children, he enjoyed serious parental attention from youth.

His parents taught him how to work hard. He learnt skills like making of gunpowder, cassava milling, and cash crop farming from his parents. He attended St. Patrick’s Primary School, Azagba-Ogwashi-Uku, 1968-1974; St. Murumba’s Secondary Comprehensive Community School, Okpanam, 1974-1979;

where he finished and obtained his West African School Certificate in 1979. He never failed a class despite serious migraine he experienced throughout his secondary school years especially during examinations. “Those were examinations written under conditions you never would have passed, but God was there for me.”

He came to Lagos the same year he left secondary school – 1979 and gained employment with Nigerian Ports Authority. With limited financial foundation, he tasked himself to study. He is today an Associate Member of the Chartered Management Accountants of Nigeria; hold Professional Certificate in Auditing of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, A Professional Certificate with Diploma in Management Studies with Nigeria Institute of Management, Diploma and B.A in Christian Studies at the Lagos State University.

THE TURNING POINT
 The turning point in his life started when as a celebrated MC who made his house a Happening Centre”, suddenly fell sick and became very unfulfilled and unhappy with life. His late uncle visited and talked with him on the need to change his ways of life.  Initially, He rejected his counsel because of his occasional dependence on him for support, until God turned the man’s life around with a major breakthrough, which the family celebrated. He began to listen to him and the Lord used him to convert him to Christ. He followed him to church one early morning and surrendered to Jesus.

A week later he met the Pastor who prayer for him and the migraine stopped and he told him, “The only thing that will make this sickness come back is sin.” So he began to serve God never to go back to his past life. Today, several lives and homes have been redeemed and restored through God’s special grace upon his life and ministry.
Patrick was discipled and trained by Rev. Wole Owolabi and Rev. Julius Olawole of New Covenant Church; Bishop David Oyedepo of Word of Faith Bible Institute and Rev. Dr. Akin John of Church Growth International.

NO SUCCESS WITHOUT GOD
Success and breakthrough in life is not a function of what you get from people but your covenant walk with God. Walking with God is the only foundation of a good and glorious destiny. It does not matter to God when and how you take off. Abraham took off late, but he made his mark. Your take off point in God is your morning. Do all that is within your ability to retrace your steps and re-dedicate it to Jesus because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

He was born again on 10th February 1988 in Lagos and disciplined at New Convent Church, Osogbo between 1989–1993. Served under various ministries from 1989 to 1997 when the Lord instructed him to separate himself for a new assignment. He obeyed as instructed and waited on God for four years. He named the ministry, Dominion gate Ministries and directed that the ministry takes off from Abule-Ado in Lagos-Nigeria.

For him everything was odd at the beginning except God. It was difficult to feed. But even then, God blinded his eyes to his treasurable certificates because He wanted to use him. It was so difficult then that a gift of Thirty Naira (N30.00) even with a wife and two children was big in his eyes. His wife mounted pressure on him to work since there was nobody to back them up. But one day. in a seminar he heard Bishop David Oyedapo said, “God has no money problem. You do not need money for His vision, rather you need His vision, backing and provision because every divine vision enjoys divine backing and supply.” From then on, he discovered that God is the STRONG FORCE that is resident in His word. If you could apply His words, your needs would be met. This is in harmony with the creative principle of the Kingdom and so he began to speak into the destiny of this ministry. In year 2001, God told him “It is not enough to speak my words; obey it, for the blessing is tied to the OBEDIENCE. IF YOU WILL BE HOLY AND KEEP MY WORD WITHOUT COMPROMISE, I WILL BE WITH YOUR WORD AS I WAS WITH THE WORDS OF SAMUEL.” (I Samuel 3:19). People were offended for his hardness, but things turned around and doors opened and is still opening. It takes experiencing testimony to share one. So he can say authoritatively “there is no success without God.” Because he thought he had one until he met with the true GOD OF SUCCESS.
